Frequently Asked Questions
What grades is the Space & Astronomy Lab suitable for?
The program is designed for 1-10 students (Grades 1 through 10). Activities and curriculum are age-appropriate and engaging for every level, from basic solar system exploration for primary students to asteroid hunting and satellite modeling for secondary students.
What space does the school need to provide for the lab?
The school provides a dedicated room or area for the astronomy lab setup. Smartcircuits Innovation handles all the interior setup including wall graphics, equipment placement and display materials.
Do students actually discover real asteroids?
Yes! Through the International Asteroid Search Campaign (IASC) in collaboration with NASA, our students analyze real telescope data from observatories worldwide to identify and track near-earth objects. Several of our student teams have received official recognition for discovering provisional asteroids.
How are teachers trained to run the lab?
Smartcircuits Innovation conducts a comprehensive 2β5 day in-campus capacity building program for teachers. This includes hands-on training with all equipment, a complete curriculum resource pack, activity guides, and ongoing support to ensure teachers can confidently conduct engaging astronomy classes.
Is the program aligned with the CBSE/ICSE syllabus?
Yes, the curriculum is fully aligned with NEP 2020 and complements the CBSE and ICSE science syllabi. The program is designed as an enrichment layer that deepens understanding of core science concepts through space science applications and experiential learning.
What international collaborations does the program offer?
Students can participate in NASA Citizen Scientist programs, the International Asteroid Search Campaign (IASC), the International Space Olympiad, World Space Week celebrations, video conferences with NASA/ISRO/MIT experts, and even organized visits to ISRO, CERN and NASA at subsidized rates.
What is the annual Astronomy Festival?
The World Space & Astronomy Festival is an intra-school event organized by Smartcircuits Innovation in collaboration with the school. Students showcase their projects and innovations to the whole school community, receive awards and certificates, and celebrate their scientific achievements throughout the year.
Can students do real satellite projects?
Absolutely! Students design and build satellite models as part of the curriculum. Our most ambitious achievement was Dikshant SAT-1, a real high-altitude balloon satellite launched in March 2019 from Mansa, reaching a maximum altitude of 45 kilometers before landing in Kurukshetra. Students captured actual images of Earth's curvature.
Does Smartcircuits provide ongoing support after setup?
Yes, Smartcircuits Innovation provides continuous support including software licenses, curriculum updates, competition registrations, teacher resources, event facilitation, and technical assistance throughout the academic year.
